ConvertKit Review (2022): Pricing, Pros, Cons & Features

Apr 18, 2022

ConvertKit -

ConvertKit is an email service provider (ESP) that is beneficial to everyone, from solopreneurs to established online businesses. However, the platform's features are geared specifically toward online creators.
ConvertKit enables you to send emails directly to email subscribers, such as broadcast emails or an autoresponder email campaign.
Furthermore, ConvertKit includes a landing page builder to assist you in selling your products and services; a very cool feature!

ConvertKit GetResponse alternativeConvertKit features -

ConvertKit has a fantastic set of features. It has an excellent autoresponder, subscriber management, and form-building capabilities. One area where it falls short is in its email editor.

There is no option to create an email from the menu. Instead, you must select either the Broadcast (which sends a single email) or the Sequences option (which lets you send a string of related emails).
This is a major oversight because creating an appealing email is the foundation of a successful campaign, so you will only be able to create a very simple email unless you have design and coding resources.

Email Editor

First, let's get the bad news out of the way. ConvertKit's email editor is a huge letdown. Given that they were able to create outstanding features for other aspects of creating and managing email marketing campaigns, it's surprising that the company didn't put more effort into the email editor.
There are only a few email and newsletter templates available, and the editing options are limited.
You can change the background and content color, font, button color, and style. You must copy and paste a snippet of code to personalize the subject line.

There are no options for previewing, spam-checking, or spell-checking.

Subscriber Management -

ConvertKit uses email tags to manage subscribers rather than lists (the term ConvertKit uses for contacts). You can specify the tags (for example, subscribers imported on November 1st) and assign as many tags to a subscriber as you want.

You can choose which autoresponders, forms, and tags to add subscribers to when you add them. ConvertKit also allows you to import subscribers from another email marketing service provider.
ConvertKit is heavily focused on analytics, and this extends to subscribers. It monitors key subscriber metrics such as

  • New subscribers
  • Total subscribers
  • Average open rate
  • Average click rate

If you have an online store, you can also get granular reports on purchase metrics, which include all of the products your subscribers have purchased as well as the channels they used to get to the point of purchase.

Segmentation -

Knowing how to segment your customers is essential if you want to deliver personalized content to specific audiences. ConvertKit allows you to create segments with as many conditions as you want, excluding and including customers based on these criteria.

Conditions that you can impose include:
  • Location
  • Date of Subscription
  • Purchase habits

Forms and landing pages

ConvertKit's landing page and form-building functionality are excellent. It's also presented in a stunning user interface, just like the rest of its features.
ConvertKit includes a slew of advanced features in addition to templates and standard design editing options (color, font, background, text size, and so on).

These include:

When a customer fills out a form, you have the option of taking one of several actions.

  • Automatically sending an incentive email to new subscribers.
  • Changing the information displayed to returning visitors
  • Changing the text in search results and on social media

The built-in forms and landing page reports show you the visitors, subscribers, and subsequent conversion rate, which gives you the insight to know if you need to make changes.

And if you don’t have a website, don’t worry, as ConvertKit hosts the landing page for you on its server and domain.

Autoresponders

Autoresponders are email sequences that are sent automatically when a customer takes a specific action or when another condition is met, such as three days have passed since your last email.
ConvertKit makes it simple to create complex autoresponders. The condition, action, or event must be chosen first. This includes the following:
  • New Subscribes are being added and tagged.
  • Completing a form
  • Getting a Product
  • ConvertKit autoresponder builder

ConvertKit also provides automation templates that you can use if you are unsure of which steps to take to achieve your goal. These templates are as follows:
  • Launch a product by hosting a webinar.
  • Follow up with customers who haven't purchased Newsletters that are optimized to be sent at the times when customers are most likely to open them
